seven year old daughter of Samuel Y

half the Jennings ranch and 15,00(

- Stroma was a tramp of the most

young girl standing In the middle of
the rail, and the northbound express

clip. The girl .was too frightened to

heroic action of the tram pa' described

He was found this morning and when
taken before the ranchman was very
modest and refused to talk of - the
act, simply saying "no more than any
othnr' fellow would have done." He
was told that Mr. Jennings had made
him a gift of his fortune. He stoutly
refused to accept the gift at first
but after being repeatedly pressed to
take it he accepted. The gift Is esti
mated at one million dollars.

the demands of the travelling public
that some arrangements be made for
a freely Interchangeable mileage tic
ket fitted to present T.-onditions, the
western railroads have deeded upon
a uniform mileage book, which wan
placed on sale today to replace all
forms of mileage bonks now in use
The books are sold at a flat rate
of $ 10 to cover $2,000 miles, and are
issued t with slightly varying rendit
ions. One coupon wlllbe taken for
each mile In Illinois, Indiana, Iowa,
Kansas, Oklahoma, Northern Mlchl
gan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Da
kota, Minnesota "and parts of South
Dakota. Five coupons for four miles
or 2 1-S cents per mile, will le taken
Missouri, Wyoming,, Texas, Montana
and Smith Dakota, west of the Mis
souri river. In 5ew Mexico three cou
pons for two mfleB will be detached.

ned to take this morning train, but
there was no train, Eberhard can
scercely be reprimanded for contempt i

destinies of the railraod traffic. How
ever, he will catch the first train

Staurday He says that they "had
plenty of provisions at all times and
that it was Impossible for him to get
to Kamela after his mall, but that he
had little or no difficulty In coming
down the creek to this city for his
