Oratory Thrives University of Oregon, Feb 23. (Special) Oratory Is not dead, at least not in Oregon. So It was pro claimed by the presence of nine lusty orators at the preliminary tryouts for choosing Oregon's .interstate or ator, held yesterday afternoon at Vll lard Hall. The orations were " well written and delivered, and at the end of the contest there was much doubt in the minds of those that heard it as to who would be among the suc cessful five. Those chosen were: H. J. Rounds. 10, The Spirit of Pat rlotlam; B. H. Williams, 10, The Query of Life; W. C. Nichols, '10, Landmarks of Liberty; A. M Geary, '10, Commercialized Press and Pub lic Opinion; L. N. Mays, '12 Private vs. Public Liberty. The Man of Many Mysteries. Laurant, the Man of Many Mys teries, will present the fourth nun ber of the La Grande Lecture Course.
