'Those who visited this valley last year on an insnj-fon tour were well pleased. They f vjnd that conditions had not been exaggerated and are coming back thlr year. Many let ters to this effect have been received at the Commercial Ciub. ' , No one should vote against the school bonds a week from tomorrow until -they personally investigate our chool facilities. A great deal has been said as a forecast of the action of Premier Asqulth an t bis party, but little is known as to the purposes of the Lords regarding the laws to be made. They are not Inclined to do a great deal of talking until some definite action Is taken affecting their interests, then they freely open the4 floodgates of their . oratory. : ' It may be assumed, however, that the Lords will pass whatever budget is sent up to them without further Question'. There Is no longer any doubt that the reform of the House of Lords must, be undertaken imme . finitely, but there Is no hope of Its accomplishment in the near future except by a compromise with the Un ionists or by the Upper house itself taking the Initiative in this respect It Is hardly probable that the coala- tlon government will undertake to deprive the Second Chamber of the Teto power by untra-contsltutlonal . means In the face of the indecisive erdict of the people of Great Brit ain at the recent elections. 4 Financial conditions which have been rather unsteady because of the , uncertainty of the ' political sltutlon are expected to undergo a change for the better very soon. Everything now depends upon the policy of the 4 cabinet. The whole situation is read lly summed up in a sentence: Will Mr. Llody-Oeroge and Mr. Winston Churchill be the dominating influ ence in the new cabinet as they were -la the old one, or will Mr. Asqulth . Sir Edward Gray and Lord Morlay take the lead?. The former course pells a renewal of all the disturb ances which have afflicted English securities for the past four years The latter means . reasonable gov ernment, a strong navy, and less so cialism. Until the answer to these ' Questions Is determined, markets will be more or less unsettled, though cnoclevably there 'will always be an undercurrent of strength by reason of the assurances resulting from the knowledge that there will at least be a strong opposition to face any ex treme government measures. During the storm yesterday not a few amused themselves watching peo pie fall while walking over the slick trap ' doors leading to the cellars. Many of these are actually danger ous and sooner or later some one Is going to be seriously Injured. , 0 . Fined for.
