Elliot's number of lecture course oc cures tomorrow night 't ; Tomorrow evening the third num ber of the lecture course will occur at the Mormon Tabernacle. On ac count of the revival meetings now Jn progress the entertainment will be gin at 9 p. m. Eward Elliott, will present a popular play. Some ' have asked If this attraction is a lecture. Mr. Elliott wHl take a play that has made a wonderful - success on' the stage ' and make the'; characters tell the story. This number is not a lec ture. Edward Elliott will appear at Baker City this evening on their lec ture course. He will arrive in La Grande on the morning train. Those who have a season ticket should get busy and bring them from their hid ing places. General admission win be 75 cents. The doors will be op ened at 8:15. ' Activity In Railroad Circles ; There Is a renewed acUyity In lo cal railroad circles and it Is expected that the breaking up of winter, will be the signal for the opening up of a great era of railroad buildin and Improvement la Eastern Oregon, says the Pendleton E. 0. ' ! t ? A crew of surveyors has been at work for several days setting ; the grade stakes for the changes which are to he made In the road between this city and Yoakum. A little more than a million dollars will be snent In this work which Includes the elim ination of curves and the. : improve ment of the road bed. Inadditlon to this, fence buildinjr gangs are now being organized to fence the unfenced portions of the roal. The most notable niece In thin vicinity being the entire Pilot Rock branch. The posts were dltrlbu'ted for this work once and then thev were gathered up again, but appar ently , the company now expects to complete the work this time. With the" fencing of this branch line completed, the Condon. Wallowa valley and other branch lines are to be taken care of. ' , CHOOSES DEEP SUBJECT.
