Dr. Cook has been lost to the world since November 22, nearly thirty days. In the meantime such shady reports v have been current, together with seml ' official statements from Copenhagen, all tending to disprove his previous contention that he discovered the North Pole. Dr. Cook not only dis honors himself but our nation. At the beginning of the cotroversy the ma jority of the people believed, or at least hoped that he would prove be . yond any doubt that he had accomp lished his purpose. Ills absence fol lowed by evidence of fraud at every stage of developments would suggest that Cook bad purposely secluded him self to avoid public disgrace that he knows will follow the expert decision. If Cook Is the Impostor that he seems to be, may ho never be beard of a-gnln. be cited to show how aa a nation we are absorbing those from other shores. A very large proportion of these peo ple make desirabla and patriotic cit izens. Some do not and should be ex cluded. ',::. Booker T. Washington In a recent address said: "We now have in this country 250 drug stores owned or controlled by black men; 47 Negro banks, and industrial enterprises to the number of more than 10,000. They own 400.000 homes and 57 per cent of the race can read and write." Notice of Annual 'feetlng. Christmas boxes for pale, Ferguson's.'
