AWAIT STEEL 0 BRIDGE V V i 8 Reinforced concrete abuttments for ihe new county bridge over the Grande Koiide river at Oro Dell, were com pleted Saturday, and contractors Campbell and Fitzgerald, have but lit tle to do from now until, the steel ar rives. The scaffolding, with exception of one bent, has been erected and as soon a the connecting link is put in, there will be nothing but awaiting steel which Is due to come October 1st. With the completion of the abutt ments, an idea of the Btabllity which the new bridge is to have, can be gained. ED THOMAS OUT. Able to Come lon Town After His J Serious Injuries In Wreck. . Machinist Ed Thomas, injured se verely in the Coeur d'Aleue wreck several months ago, was able today to come down town, a fact that will be welcomed by his many friends, who had feared for his recovery. There was a large attendance at the special meeting of- the Eastern Star, Saturday evening. The meeting was called because of an official visit of the Grand Worthy Matron, Mrs. An toinette Stiles of Portland. Mrs. Jen nie G. Rinehart of Summerville, Grand Associate Matron, was also present. The work of the order lasted until al most midnight, there being several initiations. After the closing of the lodgs a sumptous banquet followed In honor of the Grand Matron and the other visitors. The members of the O. E. S. feel that they were greatly inspired by the official visit of Mrs. Stiles, and have received a fresh im petus for the beautiful work of the order. Mre. Stiles left for Baker City last evening . Before taking her departure the head official of the order applauded the drill team and general efficiency of the order in a verbal manner which left no room for doubts as to her sin cerity. She maintained that the lodge was in many respects the best chap ter in the state, both in drill work and other features. Notice of Street Improvement.
