Henry P. Elliott, the man who was
arrested at Hllgard, charged with bur
glarizing the store of J. D. Casey, and
has been confined in the county jail
for some time, was this morning taken
before County Judge Henry, on the
complaint of F. P. Childers, charged
with Being Insane. He was examined

A transfer was made today of the
house and one lot which has been the
home of Dr. and Mrs. F. E. Moore for
the past five years. The purchaser
is Henry T. Hill, who with hi3 wife
and little daughter will make . La
Grande their future home. Mr. Hill
recently sold his dam site farm to the

him insane. He was commuted to tne
insane asylum at Salem. The attend

Mrs. W. F. Ghcrmely and daughter
Beulah, who have been visiting Mrs.
Ghormely's daughter, Mrs. C. E. Coch
ran, left this morning for Umatilla,
where they will Join their husband
and father. Mr. Ghormely Is the Prin
cipal of the school at Umatilla. They
will return to their home in Wallowa
county when the school year is over.

Smith Family Day on Thursday will ,
be a unique feature of the week's en
tertainment at the Alaska-Yukon-Pa-clflc
exposition. Smiths from all parts
of the state will gather for the day.
Prizes will be offered for the oldest
Smith, the youngest Smith, and so on
through the whole list of unusual
members of the Smith family.
Beginning with Thursday and con
tinuing until September 9, the. most
elaborate fireworks spectacle yet at
tempted at the exposition will be pre
sented. The scene represents the
destruction of the City of Mexico. The
effects will all be worked out In fire
works, showing the burning and ruin
of the Mexican capital. '
Another feature of the Thursday en
tertainment at the fair will be Oka
nogan Day. A large number of peo
ple from that county are already at
the fair and they will be joined by
an excursion party which is expected
to arrive Wednesday. The Okanogan
county booth will be fitted up for tne
reception of the visitors and fruit will
be given away free to all comers.
The Wenatchee celebration on Fri
day will be the chief attraction of the
day. Two car loads of Wenatchee
fruit, including a bountiful supply of
big red apples, will be distributed
from the Chelan county booth In the
Agriculture building. The Wenatchee
Chamber of Commerce estimates that
the attendance on that day from the
county will reach "two thousand.
