The Mormon Tabernacle choir pass
ed through La Grande last night on
its way to Salt Lake from the Seattle
fair. They will give a concert at
Nampa. In an interview with mem
bers o the choir they 6tated that the
stories In the Seattle papers that the
polite dispersed "The Mormon Mob"
from in front of the concert building
when they started a riot on the night
of the concert were false, and that as
soon as Mr. Stephens told the mem
bers of the choir what to do they all
went quitely to the Utah building
where they remained until their con
ductor arrived. It is said that as
soon as the people became aware of
what happened one could hear the ex
pression on all sides: "Well that is
the limit" and "It is an outrage"
which showed the sentiment of the
people In general.
Work on Structure is Progressing
Bricklaying begun on the new O. R.'
& X. depot this morning and all work
men seem to be busy and anxious to
get the Job completed. Pendleton's
station is progressing a little In ad
vance of the one here, for the brick
walls have been completed there.

Every reason which makes It a
man's duty to provide for his family
while he is living, acts with greater
force to secure for them a comfort

Now I know how to practice Christ's
command to take no thought for the
morrow. I pay the policy money once
a year and take no further thought
about it. Chas. H. Surgeon.
I have known men who have an in
come of $:;ooo, $4000, or $.'(000 a year
who did not leave one farthing for
the surviving household. Now such
a man's death is a refakation, an
outrage, a swindle. He did not die,
he absconded. T. De Witt. Talmage.
