The report is current that an operation Is about to be performed on E. H. Harrinian. A visit to Dr. Norman Dittman, noted specialist of kidney diseases lends color to the story. The report that Harriman Is doing "some work" is said that this work consists of turn ing over the details of his vast inter ests to his assistants. CHICAGO, Aug. 26. While the railroad officials throughout Idaho, were seeking young Walter Averell Harrlman, who has been missing with a party of O. R. ft N. surveyors since the big Coeur d'Alene reserva tion forest fire, he slipped into this city today on his way to greet his father at Arden, Harrlman's country place. His arrival has set at rest all re ports as to his loss or injury'. Young Harrlman said: "I know nothing regarding my fa ther's Illness except that several days ago I received a message summoning me home. I received another men sage here today which said father was back and resting easily. I intend to continue my , railroad work, but will not return to the chain gang. It Is my purpose to learn the railroad business in all of its departments." 11 . uui b, pimecou null harness, cheap if taken immediately; cash or terms. Phone Red 1921, 7315 Jockson avenue. (3t) GEO. In the meantime, without running any risks he is going to make an ivestlgation. . If the ' ap parent good fortunte is. genuine he will accept with pleasure, but If ft Is a bunco game he wljl refuse to be fleeced, says the E. O. ,, ' The cause of his pertrubation was a lengthy letter which arrived this morning from Madrid Spain. The writer represents bimself to be a rel ative of Crystal and says that though he Is now In prison op. the charge of being an anarchist, that he now has more than $450,000 In English drifts and that ne will . give' ohe-fourth of this to Crystal on condition that the Pendleton groceryman receive Into his home the 14-year-old daughter of the imprisoned man. ' ' Letter From Madrid. -, The letter was posted in Madrid, and was sent to Medford, Oregon, the former home of Mr. Crystal. From there it was forwarded to Pendleton, arriving this morning. It bears the date of July 10. The letter Is signed Luis Rodlques Crystal. The writer starts off by saying that the reclpent of the epistle will un derstand their relationship when he explains that his mother was Mrs. Mary Crystal, said to be a kinswoman of the Pendleton man. Mary Crystal Is the name of the local man's grand mother, and if this is the same wo ma nto whom the writer refers this would make him an uncle. Tbe conditions imposed are that the local groceryman shall receive the daughter and act as her protec tor until she becomes of age, or is married. Up until that time he is to receive the Interest on the whole amount of the fortune, which Is to be Unvested by the protector of the girl. When she becomes of age the origi nal fortune is to be divided, one fourth going to the protector and one to the girl. Apparent Joker Revealed. So far .the plan Is entirely agreeable with the local man, but there seems to be a further stipulation that the "good chaplain" be provided with funds sufficient to redeem the lug gage, In which Is concealed the drafts and also to. pay the passage of the clrl and the chaplain from Madrid to Pendleton. There Is small possibility that the money will be produced. FOR SALE Fresh-cow giving nearly 4 gallons extra rich milk. , Inquire phone Red 1022. WANTED-i-Girl wants position gen eral house work.
