(Special) A large number of prominent southern ers are In Seattle and will remain over for the Dixie Day celebration at the Alaska-Yukon-Paciflc exposition, Au gust 24. Among the list Is Governor Albert W. Gilchrist of Florida, who will be one ef the speakers in the afternoon exercises at the natural amphitheatre. Admiral R. C. Hollyday, chief of the bureau of docks and yards at Wash ington, D. C, is another big man from the southern states. Judge W. C. Cald well of Trenton, Tenn., Is one of a party of over 100 who are at the ex position from that state. Judge Cald well tried the famous night riders case. In Judge J. E. Robbing, of May field, the fair Is entertaining another celebrated southern jurist. lie sat on the bench before which Caleb Powers was tried for the assassination of Gov. poebel. . ' The Dixie Day celebration will be one of the biggest events at the exposi tion. Permanent offices have been es tablished at Room 914 in the Alaska b2?!d!!!; " which nil southerners in the northwest who will be present at the day are registering. From the present indications over twenty-five thousand will take part in the program of the day. The largest reunion of southern veterans held In recent years will take place on Dixie Day. The "Rebs" 'will hold a series of drills in the stadium. The ball in the evening at the Wash ington State building will be conduc ted on strictly southern lines. Mr. John Graham and nephew, Ed ward Graham, went to North Powder Wednesday on a visit. Mrs. Marie Larn, who has been ill for so long, is now able to be up part of the time. As on the previous evenings, every one seemed well pleas ed with the play and players. Tonight the four act sensational comedy "Man to Man" will be given with a bright cast and a bunch of clever special ties.' ""Man to Man" will be found a jolly play, full of dash and ginger. The comedy, of which there Is plenty, has been mixed with the blood and thunder plot, and with the sprinkling of pa thos that the author has thrown in ' here and there, it makes a perform ance of the lighter class that will please all. It was learned today that the British secret service men have found conclusive proof that the dynamite found in the bunkers of the battleships "Lord Nelson" and vic torious Duke of Edinburgh, was the result of a deliberate attempt to de stroy the vessels. Carefully prepared bombs were found the same as those used at the mines where It was first supposed to be dynamite accidentally mixed with coal. Privileges suggested by Justice Mills at the recent Investigation of Harry Thaw's sanity has been denied by the officials of the Matteawan asylum. Thaw Is denied the privi lege of smoking, and can't have a light In his room, and must retire the same hour as other inmates do. Justice Mills, although, ruling that Harry was insane, suggested that he be allow4 several privileges.
