Fishermen have had no trouble this

to be more in evidence than for sev

' When we pet our gravity water sys
tem in there will be demand for a
lowering of the state during the irriga
tion season. The present rate of 25
.cents per thousand gallons of water
for irrigating the lawns which adds so
much to Hie beauty of our city is en
tirely too high. It always has been
too high. It tloes not cost to exceed
.7 cents per thousand gallons to pump
it and we" do not believe that for this
purpose the city should exact 100 per
cent. House rates of 25 . cents per
thousand gallons does not matter
much as there are few houses that
exceed the minimum rate for domestic
purposes, but during the irrigation
reason the rate should be lowered, and
when the gravity , system is in the
demand will doubtless be so great that
this will be done.
The Union county exposition is
meeting with gratifying support gen-,-,
erally. At first It was maintained that
stockmen would not bring their show
stuff to the city. Those w ho had given
thla matter much thought and had
investigated what was being accom
plished in other places, knew this
seeming prejudice would soon disap
pear, but were somewhat doubtful
about the first season. However as
soon as the stockmen become acquain
ted with the accommodations that are
being made for the protection and
housing of their stock, they make
no objection, and are pleased to know
that they will have the opportunity
of showing the stock to thousands of
people who heretofore never knew
that we had a stock exhibition at our
fairs. Their location being off to one
aide many did not take the trouble to
visit that section. The people gener
ally throughout the county are be
ginning to catch the spirit of enthusi
asm as Is being manifest by the peo
ple of this city. After years of ma
