Rev. C. E. Deal, for the past three
years in charge of the M. E. church
pulpit here, arrived home last even
ing from the annual conference at
Blackfoot, Idaho, and Is today pack
lng his household goods preparatory
to leaving for Baker City his new
charge. He will occupy the pulpit in
Baker City next Sunday, and is prac
tically c-taln that H. E. McCleod the
new pastor here, will arrive from his
present quarters at Meridian and will
occupy the pulpit here next Sunday.

Mr. McCleod Is a young man. He
has a family of a wife, and three chil
dren, the oldest 8 and the youngest 2
years. Though originally from the
east, he is a thorough westerner and
Ch'jrch worVor of rnnaMnrnhln
fame. It has been his record thus far
to build a church 'or parsonage each
year of his ministry.
Mr. Deal knows the gentleman quite
well and affirms he is a splendid in
dividual on and off the pulpit. Mr.
Deal does not know postlvely when
he will leave La Grande, but it will he
in time for him to reach Baker City
by Sunday.
