The first leg of the task of making out the tax roll has been completed by Assessor Rinehart. Much ambig uous work formerly attached to the tax roll, has been eliminated and when the roll is once made out In the as sessor's office it is permanent Grant Keys, the aeroplane Inventor, who several years ago, before going to Panama, built and experimented with a machine in advance of the Wrights' machines and which resem bles Wright aeroplane in the chief aspects, will again take to aviation when he completes his present task of sinking an oil well at Nyssa and other points in the Eastern Oregon oil fields. He la poBtive that he can perfect a machine, for he has Ideas about fly ing machines which he has not seen used by other aviators. Keys was per haps the prlmier aviator on the coast, when several years ago, he made short but successful flights near Morgan lake, where, wrecks of his machine can still be seen. While he has set no exact date on commencement of his new machine, will be Just as soon as other duties relax in importance, so that he can rv imintArrimted on the new scheme. . A passenger brakeman, Cox, on the first train from the East last evening, was unintentionally "ditched'' several miles from Pleasant valley, and en Joyed the moonlight stroll from the point where he was left by his pas senger train to Pleasant valley. Cox had been sent out to place signal lights and whoa about a quarter of a mile from his train, was ailed in by the engineer's whistles. Passen gers say the train was started before the brakeman could return, and he was left out in the jungles all by his lonesome.
