Jackson of River Junc tion, has gone to Seattle with his family to spend a month in the Puget Bound country. Miss Eflie Baker and Miss Helen Currey are visiting Mr. and Mr8. J. W. Dickey, who reside a few mles out from Baker City. Mr. and Mrs. Atthinson of South La Grande, left Sunday evening for Port laud, Tacoma and Seattle, expecting to be absent several days. Archie McLaughlin was confined ia the county Jail today to begin a sen tence of thirty days for carrying con cealed weapons. Fred Swaney who has been at Hot Lake for a long time taking treat ments, spent Sunday In La Grande with friends. He is considerably better. Conductor and Mrs. Frank O'Hare and Mrs. J. P. Donnelly left Saturday night for Seattle and Portland, in tending to visit the fair. Engineer George Parker has taken the Baker City switch engine and En gineer Dupes Is going to move to Peasant Valley instead of Kameli as first planned. A. P.
