The executive committee will fur nish the wheelbarrows to transport the trash from the grounds. Bring your suppers and a cup for the cof fee and cream that Is to be furnished by the ladles. Through Borne work that is being done by the reclamation service in the vicinity of the mouth of Butter Creek rumors have become rife that the feovernmcnt Is intending to take up an Irrigation project on, the west side of the Umatilla and covering a large section of the now desert land of Umatilla and Morrow counties. For a number of weeks past a crew of men under Mr. Copeland, one of the reclamation engineers, has been at work on the test pits near the mouth of Butter Creek. TheBe pits are being sunk for the purpose of ascertaining the water retaining powers of the land In that locality. Though no in formation has been given out by the reclamation men It is generally be lieved by parties familiar with the lo cality that, the land is such that it may be used for reservoir purposes.
