Denham came up from Elgin this afternoon on legal matters. The Huntington switch engine, No. 22, was brought in last night for a general overhauling. Miss Emma Cole came over from Pendleton last evening, and will visit friends a few days bfore returning. J T W. Davidson, the Union oil man. -iwas a passenger on the morning train today, en route home. -Ve. M. Chandler and J.' J. Burns are here from Baker City and are regis tered at the Foley hotel. A block of wood sidewalk la being put in on Oak street, connecting with Adams avenue. - Mrs. Saunders of Pendleton, is here visiting her son, Engineer W. A. Saun ders, and will remain until after the Fourth. Lews Smalley left last night for a little community near Portland where he will give' a balloon ascension on July Fourth. The plate glacs . for the brick build ing being built for J. E. Foley by Contractor Slater on Adams Avenue, arrived last night. F. S. Brara well left today for Grant county where dirt is now fly ling in preparation fo rlaying the Sum mer Valley Railroad extension. Leo Forsythe of Enterprise, who -i has been in Washineton. Jack and wife came down last night from Pleasant Valley where Mr. Jack has been for the last ,year. Mr. Jack has accepted a per manent run on the branch line. Mr. and Mrs. N. Nelson left last i evening for San Francisco and other roast cities. They will make their j home in San Francisco, if the cltv is h their liking. Engineer and Mrs. B. Cunliff will i pave in a few days for Baker City to pake their future home. Mr. Cunliff as accepted the Baker. City switch ngine job. William Ballenger, mail clerk on. the oseph run, went back to work today fter a week's vacation spent In Port land. His run was taken care of by T. Hemenway of the Pocatella helper pail service. - .
