voters thereof, the proposition of
adopting or rejecting an act entitled:
"An- act to provide a revised and con
solidated charter of the City of La
Grande, In the County of Union, in
the State of Oregon," filed la the of
fice of the City Recorder of said City
on tbe 21st day of April, A. D. 1909,
and ordained by the city council of
said city by Ordinance No. 4 MS Series
1W9, entitled:
"An ordinance 'ordaining a revised
and consolidated charter of the City
of La Grande, Oregon, and submitting
the -same to the legal voters of laid
city -tor adoption or rejection at a
special election to be held therein on
June 22, A. D. 1909," duly .passed by
the council of said city at a regular
meeting thereof on the itet day o
April, A. D. 1909.

La Grande boys certainly know a
few things about taseball and are
steadily climbing to the top. In the
game at Baker Ctty yesterday La
Grande trimmed the team at that placa
up In fine shape, "the final score be
ing 22 to 3. La Grande had things
their way from the time "play ball"'
was called until the final inning. Ba
ker City will soon learn that they are
not playing with children and try to
get a team that will make a showing.

, UNION, June 14. In a -fun
furious game here, yesterday Union
trimmed Cove 5 to 3. The game was
the most ""classy" ball that has been
played oa the local diamond this nea
son. In the elgth inning Smith of
Cove cut first and Umpire Wright cal
led him 'out. Cove then refused to
finish the game saying that the um
pire did mot see the play, and Wrlfiht
declared the game forfeited to Union
Cove men then changed their mind
and were allowed by the umpire to
play the game o-it.

About 25 people who bought tickets
for -west bound No. 7 this morning
were considerably worried for a time.
The trainmen refused at first to let
