La Grande has done ex ceedingly well this year in track and fled work, and though champions of Union county only, the team made a strenuous fight for first honors where ever they' went, and are on the ath letic map in clearly defined lines. In the Union county meet, the lo cals scored 861-2 points, 12 at Walla Walla. 1-2 point at Corvallis and 19 at Pendleton, a total of 118 points. TWO EXCURSION TRAINS. One Will Stop at Minam And The Other Will go to Joseph. flSIfldllT A1STFWARD Two separate trains will be run for the accommodation of those who at- jtend the railroad men's picnic on the third Sunday in June. One train will stop at Minam and th other will go to Joseph. Stops will be made at the hatchery and River Junction also, so that excursionists may drop off when ever it suits them to do so. The fare to Joseph and return will be $2.50. Th people of Joseph will provide teams to haul the visitors to the head of Wallowa lake, five miles away. The Burns Johnson fight for the heavyweight championship of the world, which occurred in Sydney, Australia, last December, will be te produced by moving pictures at the Steward this afternoon and evening. Enterprise has arranged for two games of ball this week with the strong Union team, which left for the hustling Wallowa county town this morning. The games are scheduled to take place Thursday and Friday It is possibl that the Union boys will stop in Elgin for a game on Saturday on their return trip, but the arrang inents are not yet definite.
