June.' Judge Knowlea has notified
the attorneys that tomorrow at
10 o'clock will be motion day, and
Peter O'SuIIivan writes that he" will
be able to meet with the grand Jury
on the same date. The grand jury
will meet prior to tfca regular term
and hear such matters as' may be
ready for submission, The object of
Judge Knowjes'is to keep expenses
down to the lowest point .

yesterday, all of the judges concur
ring In the decision, which affirmed
the findings of the lower court, Judge
Knowles presiding. The case was
that of F. F. Schafer vs. Oral Beecher.

Blazing the trail of the steel mail
car, and being the first of its kind
ever seen In La Grande, such a car
went through here today en route to
Seattle for exhibition purposes dur
ing the A-V-P. The car is all steel,
and is equipped with an electric dy
namo for lighting purposes. It has
an appearance similar to the regular
car, but of course is more durable
than the old-fashioned cars. It is
utterly void of wood attachments,
thus being less likely to be destroy
ed in fires and wrecks.

the State of Oregon by the District Attorney in the hopes of getting a
conviction, has recently been dismissed by the Supreme Gourtand as a
consequence I am a free man. While I regret very much that tni3
prosecution has cost Union County something over $ 1 25.00, 1 am nat
urally gratified to find that I was not guilty.
On the evening of April 26 last, while I was in the east, my office
was burglarized and my record book stolen. For information, which
will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons implicated
1 will pay a reward of $100.00 or any other sum necessary. Hereaf
ter I shall be pleased to give any information regarding my prices 'etc.
