The Telocaset hill was abandoned
aa desirable for a test. The officials
arrived this morning from the east
and were sidetracked here until the
day's freight had accumulated.
The purpose is to give the air brakes
a test such as will be conclusive of
their strength on such hills a hill as
exists between here and Karaela.

Geo. L, Huffman who operates a
sheep camp east of Telocaset and had
the buildings and corral" on his ranch
destroyed by incendiary fire the last
week in April, was in Union, Satur
day and stated he was on the trail of
the incendiaries and had occasion last
week to take four shots at a night
marauder . prowling about his place,
where he has kept a diligent watch
since the fire. Owing to the darkness,
however, the shots took no effect, Bays
the Union Scout.
There appears to be a move on foot
to drive Mr. Huffman and his sheep
out of that section, and a few days
after the fire he received an anony
mous note of warning, reading, "If you
consider your scalp worth more than
a cayote's scalp, do not not come
back." ' -
Such veiled threats have no tenors,
for Mr. Huffman, and ho Btated he
would, uot be drove, scared or frigh
tened; but would fight for hi3 rights
to the bitter end.
There ia a reward of $500 offered
by the state of Oregon, also $500 by
the Sheep Association and $250 by Mr.
Hpffman for the arrest and conviction
of the parties who destroyed his build
ings, and a good bit at the state pen
in store for the guilty parties when
apprehended.
