COOLIDGE, Exalted Ruler. HI GH McCALL, Ree. See. i Official announcement of the new train schedule was made today by lo cal railroad officials, and excepting for a few minor details, all matters of importance relative to the new ser vice can now be authentically an nounced. The service commences to morrow, but the west bound schedule will not be assumed until tralus can reach here from Chicago, probably Tuesday. From the west, however, the schedule Is effective tomorrow and trains will arrive on the new time. In many ways the new arrangement Ib better for La Grande, but the new trains were not put on for La Grande's benefit, but to shorten the time between Chicago and Portland. There are two trains daily that run on the incrensed schedule. The other two ti n ins each Way are local and semi-local 'affairs. , Numbers 7 and 8 are limited and stop pu at. the import ant places along the route. They will csrvy no express whatever. Numbers 5 and C are something Similar to what is now 1 and 2, stop ping at important places and few of the small.'!- towns. Eleven and 12 are local trains purely stopping at every thing where stops can be made. : i The schedule, official, which be comes effective tomorrow follows: Westward Number 5, Oregon Ex press, arrive at La Grande, 8. P. M.; leave 8:05. Number 7, Portland Spec ial arrive 9 : 25 A M.; leave 9:30. Number II. Pacific Express, arrives 5:25 A. M. ; leaves 5:30. Eastward Number fi. Eastern ,Ev- press, arrives 6:15 A. M.; leaves 6:20. Number 8, Chicago Special arrives 8: 30 P. M.; leaves 8:35. Number 12 Atlantic Express arrives 9:15 P. M.; leaves 9:20. Arriving Time In Portland. Number 7 arrives in Portland 8 P. M. Number 11 at 6 P. M. Number 5 at 7:20 A. M. : Portland Leading Time. Number 12 leaves Portland 8:10 A. M. Number 8, 10 A. M. Number 6, 6 P. M. X Change On Joseph Run. There will be no change whatever on the Joseph-La Grande or La Grande-Joseph runs. They connect with local trains here and continue on the. same schedule as heretofore. -------. - - ...
