J. H. Oakes, one of the lending
wholesale men and moneyed "doers of
big things" In Boise and the lio'se
valley, branis Union county as one of
the finest districts of the west, and
predicts for it one of the most nour
ishing futures of any district coining
to his notice, after a visit to the riiy.
He left La Grande this morning for
points west and will return within two
weeks to spend additional time with
his personal friend, A. A. Roberts, of
the McKennon-Phy-Roberts Real Es
tate company. Coming as thii does
from one man who is well versed In
the matter of soils and commercial
j thrift, the compliment Is flattering.
Boise real-eBiate men are turning
I their busines optics on La Grande.
Knowing full well what water will do,
they forecast, basing their statements
on paBt experiences eleswhere, one of
the most promising futures for the
Grand Ronde valley that can well be
pictured. Mr. Ooakes is only one of
the Influential men of that district
who are eying Union county with a
view of possibly making substantial
investments in this district.
