Notice is hereby given that at a
school meeting of school district No.
One, of Union county, Oregon, to bo
held at High School building in said
district, on the J7th day of Morch,
1909, there will be submitted to the
legal voters of said district the ques
tion of contracting a bonded debt of
twenty-five thousand dollars for the
purpose of erecting and equipping a
high school building, the vote to be
ty ballot, ' upon which shall be the
words, "Bonds Yes," and the words,
-Bonds No." .
Polls to be opened at 1 o'clock p. m.
and remain open until 4 o'clock p. m.

Tennis in La Grande will be revived
much earlier this year than last. At
the annual meeting of the Algonquin
club last night .new officers were
elected and steps taken to get the
courts In shape for speedy resumption
of the summer sport. It Is planned to
oil the courts if such a scheme Is a
feasible one, and In several ways im
prove the grounds. In any event, the
courts will be ready for use at a near
by date. , . -' '
There are a few vacancies In the
list of memberships, and any one
wishing to Join should apply to the
membership committee, consisting of
Misses Lulu Gulling, Floy Massee and
Harvey Bay,
The officers elected lust evening are,
president," George T. Cochran; vice-
president, A. W. Nelson; treasurer.

to be appointed, and as soon as the
tournament committee is named, ar
rangements for tournaments with
other clubs of the county and eastern

Sunday -School Workers Will Meet at
Elgin Next Fall.
As predicted in The Observer last
night, Elgin was chosen as the next
meeting place of the Union county
Sunday school association at the close
of the convention at Island City last
evening. The election of officers oc
cures at the fall meeting.
