day, overwhelming 40 houses, fatally

mite was used on the tanks, which held

ed dying. She was carried 50 yards
on floating wreckage. The first es
timate has fixed the loss at 9300,000.

was cheered by. thousands of Yale
students today when he arrived to at
tend the meeting of the Yale corpora
tion. The party was driven to the
home of President Hadley of Yale, for
luncheon.
The local police, aided by secret
service men, kept the undergraduates
from crowding the president, Taft is
scheduled to return to New York this
afternooft to attend the Yale alumni
at the Waldorf-Astoria tonight.
