The Alaska-Yukon-Pacific exposition

all the floats that will be shown In
the .'.'Spirit of the Golden West" pa
rade at the Rose Kesllval of June 9.
This pageant will be one of tho most
beautiful features of the carnival, and
will serve splendidly to exploit the
country, as earh float, car or chariot
will represent the matchless fruit and
other products indigenous to tho many
Important localities of the great north
west country. It Is proposed to make
the parade in Seattle an exact replica
of this particular paradu as seen in
Portland.
The floats are to be one of the
chief attractions of the celebration,
which will be held In Seattle on "Ore
gon Day," July 17, and through an
agreement between the exposition of
ficials and the Oregon state commis
sion for the Seattle fulr, these 20
floats representative of the Industries
and resources of the various commu
nities of the state will form the nu
cleus of the principal street demon
stration wheih will take place on that
occasion.
. The Northern Pacific railway In re
sponse to a renuest from tho A-Y-P-E
officials has agreed to haul these
floats from Portland to Seattle and
back again, absolutely free of charge,
having been Informed that the inter
state commerce commission will Inter
pose no objection to such a plan, be
cause the floats are to be sent to Se
attle for exhibition purposes only.
In addition to the plan to have the.se
magnificent set pieces appear In the
"Oregon Day" parade, an arrangement
has been made by the Rose Festival
with the Oregon state commission,
whereby they will be photographed

shown In the auditorium of the Ore
g.n building, together with a lecture

lectures will afterwards be sent to the
