Comic OtM-ra Singer at Pastime Will He lilif Musical Event. The management of the Pastime has at great expense secured the comic opera contralto, Angela May, late of the Imperial opera company,, to ap pear here. This young artist Is said to possess the most beautiful ptire contralto voice of great power and heart-reaching sympathy on the operc stage today. Unlike other opera sing era, MLhs May sings those popular musical and comic opera, successes which she has made famous, and which piease and delight the most of her audiences. Her imitations of the French singer, Anna Held, now the rage. In New York, are strikingly true and artistically done. The gowns worn by Miss May are especially a-delight to the women folks and no doubt the masculine patrons will gaze en raptured at this vision of beauty from the world of Song. J. Louis McEvoy, the lyric comedi an, also a feature of the Imperial op era company, will assist Miss May in a comic-musical sketch, called "A Baby Grand." ; Mr. McEvoy Is a com poser and singer and the first song successes of these two artists will be on sale during their engagement here You cannot afford to miss this event at the Pastime and no doubt stand ing room will be the result of the de sire of every one to see and hear this attraction, beginning Monday, March 15. for one week only. "Klppy, the noted German come dian and contortionist will also be . a big feature at the Pastime- Monday night. WILL- ORGA.VIZR THRKSHKRR. "Xortlnvowt" Tditor In I.n Grande At tempting an Organization. All threshing machine owners of Union county will be banded together as an organization If the plans of Phil ip S. Bates, publisher of the Pacific Northwest at Portland, mature. Mr. Bates was In La Grande this morning, but went to Baker City, intending to return Thursday to commence the or ganization.
