"On Oetnhr ?T!2 ? cold which resulted In a bad ease of year-old daughter contracted a severe bronchitis," says Mrs. W. G. Gibson. Lexington, Ky. "She lost the power of speech completely and was a very sick child. Fortunately we hod a bot tle of Chamberlain's Cough Remedy In the house and gave It to her accord ing to the printed directions. On the second day"she was a great deal bet ter, and on the fifth day, October 23d, she was entirely well of her cold And bronchitis, which I attribute to this splendid medicine. I recommend Chamberlain's Cough Remedy unre servedly as I have found It the surest, saf .'st and quickest cure for colds, both for children and adults, of any I have ever used." For sale by all goi.J dealers. University of Oregon, Feb. 7. (Spe cial.) For violating the faculty rule gainst basing, Linn Coovert, 'IX. hat been suspended from the university during. .'" . sett. FVve iVberi freshmen, also implicated In the of-, fense, were allowed to remain on pro bation because the rule had not yet been bulletined and they were Ignor ant of its existence. Curiously enough, they were hating one of their, own classmates, Nelson Gammona of Portr land. The alleged hazing was committed on the night of January 20, and was the culmination of a series of dis putes which began almost as soon as the freshmen class' organized. After a number of stormy meetings they de cided to exclude outsiders from., the class dance. Two members refused to obey. One was a girl, the vice-president of the class. The other student was Ganimans. The university co eds were not fair enough to suit his aesthletle sense, so he took a pretty high school girl as his partner. But freshmen at the University of Oregon brook no such Infringements of their laws. On the Wednesday fol lowing, iix of them delegated them selves as officers to bring the offend er to justice. At the corner of Twelfth and Alder streets, seantilly attired, ho entertained them for about a half hour wllh the alluring steps or theSn lome dunce. His high school partner did not accumpa'iy him on this ..ca slon. v The rule that the faculty hud pre viously passed was as follows: "Ite solved, TtuU any student who shall participate In the hazing of any other student, In whutevcr manner and jvllh whatever object, shall be excluded from the privileges of the university." Tlils rule was not bulletined and no of ficial announcement of it had been made when the hazliyr was done. Coovert suid that he knew the facul ty disapproved of having snd this was taken by them to mean that he knew of their prohibitive rule. When It was afterwards explained to him, he de- nit'd ih:tl he umleiiito.nl l hem to mean a specific rule against it; but the tion Ihtd already been taken. His companions denied knowledge of the rule ind were therefore allowed to re main on probation. They are Lylc Drown, Gc.ii-pv Roche, Charles Ki'n dall, Abe l.'!;ickmn and Harry Flrf-I. Coovert will go uhec-rly to the Univer sity of Cfilffornla, where lie had al readp pjanued lo c jtr.plete his college j car. NOTICE OF FINAL ACCOl'XT.
