fact may as weii be understood at the

than when It played here on Christ
mas day and the team which It played
yesterday, on the contrary, was much
stronger. The wonder Is that the al
leged score of 19 to 0 Is not an actual
fact. In the line Fred Grout, a high
school youth, was playing center;
Qoodall played his first game of foot
ball at guard, and was displaced by
Stltt and Caylor, neither of whom have
had .experience. Pendleton nuncliireil

ly at time. The back field was handi
capped, and above all, the proper vim
was lacking In the La Grande team.
Every one seemed to be off center. On
the contrary, Pendleton's men played
like demons, though never for an in
stant resorting to dirty playing.' Ttao

When Reynolds signaled for a fair

man. It was without the question of
a doubt a touchback, yet Moorhouse
persisted In calling It a touchdown.

and kicked a field goal.'. Assistant
Timekeeper Sullivan had without a
doubt tampered with his watch. This
decision was one of the rankest on the
field. There were numerous such de
cisions. ,
Badly stiffened but glad that they
had broken even on games with their
Pendleton rivals, the team returned to
La Grande last evening. The line-up
