tion at sheriff's sale. The price paid

Dr. C. E. Saunders Is reported dan

which to stock his webfoot ranch at
Union. Mr. Jones will have ducks

Favors Irrigation.
W. E. Anderson, manager of the Im
r Hardware company, was a La
Grande visitor this morning. Mr. An
derson Is a firm believer in the irri
gation project and states that he firm
ly believes that once this valley se
cures the proper irrigation facilities
it will be able to sustain a population
of fully 75,000. He has had experi
ence wilh agriculture under irrigation
and knows whereof he speaks. Un
reports the little town of Imbler u
prospering, but says tnat If there was
a good-sized canal running along the
ftandrldge Imbler would surely become
a close rival to La Grande.

Raffle Last Evenliur.
At the Paul cigar store last evening
a J2-gauge Remington pump gun and
a fine set of meerschaum pipes were
raffled off, the prizes going to Wil
liam Nlbler and the second choice to
Engineer A. G. Blair. Nibler's num
ber was 67. and he will take his choice
of the two prizes. Blair's lucky num
ber was 77. Both are out of the city
and the "spoils" will , remain un
touched until they return.
