M CULLY, Rec. ?. 65c per Month i OFF START GAME JIT ; To take advantage of the warmest period of the day, the football game between La Grande's city team and the Pendleton militia team will be called at 15 minutes after It o'clock Friday. In view of the fact that the halves will be short, and the game called so early, it will give every one time to attend the game and return to their home for Christmas dinner. The arrangement Is one that will be greet ed with pleasure, for It Is out of the question to call the ' game after a Christmas dinner houh which cus tomarily Is 2 o'clock and expect a large attendance In the present cold wave. The noon hour Is by far the most . favorable one. Stores as a rule, will be closed all day Christmas, but a few business houses will be open until 12 o'clock. With a leeway of 15 minutes, clerks and proprietors can reach the field in time to witness all the game by this arrangement. At noon It Is seldom too cold to attend an exciting game of football during the noon hour, ever when the mercury touches ero dur ing the night time. Tomorrow afternoon at 1:80 the en tire squad will go through Us last hard practice and every candidate for the team Is requested to be in attend ance at that time. CURRENT TOPIC CLUB. Tiio President' Metwage the Subject Under Discussion. The regular meeting of the Current Topic club was held last evening at the ViniriA nf Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith. The subject for discussion was the president's message. The message was taken upby sections and after the member to .whom the , particular section had been assigned had deliver ed his remarks, setting forth his view? upon the section, the matter was then open to general discussion. After the message had been properly dealt with and the message as a whole had been pronounced about all right, the recreation features of the club were taken up and given equally close attention. One of the features of the entertainment was progressive peanut spearing. Each member was provided with a nice limber hatpin and a glass dish containing a number of peanuts. The member was to grasp the pin firmly by the head with the first and second finger and then proceed to Jab away at the peanuts. The one spear ing the greatest number of nuts was awarded a certificate of superiority. After the peanuts had all been cap-t-'.Mtl dainty refreshments were serv ed. "'-e evening was a most delight ful T'j from a social standpoint, also most Instructive one. The Scenic The pictures tonight at the Scenic are all good ones, the comic numbers are kind which Just naturally make you laugh or love. You can't sit and remain out of humor. The vaudeville acts are all catchy. The song and dance artists are above the average and their acts this evening will be en tirely new. Last night's attendance was so great at the first show many were compelled to stand throughout the entire performance. Come early ;t4'444444444444444 VER Hear of Dentist and the reason it took him a year to get a cer tificate from the State Board of Dental Examiners? He is slill practicing in the La Dental Parlors in the Post Office B'ock and it will t3 to your interest to see him If you comtemplate having any Dental Work done. By the way, he is a graduate of the Philadelphia Dental College and the Northwestern Dental Gollege of Chicago. If we were to give any advice we would say that a man who has not studied theory as well as practice is not the best man to intrust with the care of your teeth. : : : : : : : nd avoid the rush, Manager GarJlnler has secured some speclul attractions for Christmas week. This morning he received a telegram from, . his booking agent, stating that he had bwen able to se cure Fletcher and Laplrre, the great ketch team, and Zetta Lovell, one of the best high class soubrettes on the vaudeville stage. Monday all three of these people will be seen at the Scenic. Take a look at 'em and see If they don't look good to you, ' NOTICE OF FIRST MEETING OF CREDITORS.
