PLANOS Construction Crews Are Rapidly Leav ing Wallowa County. j The railroad construction work Is nearlng completion and" one by one the crews who have been stationed here are leaving, says an Enterprise paper. Saturday's train carried no less than 60 of the Greeks who have been working here to the main line, a number more were on Monday's train, and scarcely a train leaves that does not carry away some of the timekeep ers, surveyors, or foremen of the dif ferent gangs. The depot Is rapidly 1 nearlng completion and within the next week will be occupied by the op erating department. Simmons' crew, which has ,been putting In the bridge at River Junc tion, finished their work last week and Sunday departed for the outside. Woodard's camp, consisting of the steel gang and the surfacing crew, left Saturday, and Monday afternoon the P. D. Grant crew which curved the steel1 and later put In the water sys tem and surfaced the yard at this, place, packed their things In the cars and moved. ' Meantime work on the depot Is go In gon merrily. Fisher and Petrie, the contractors, expect to be able to turn the depot over to the railroad company by the 15th of the month. The railroad company has a force of. men at work on the sidewalk from the end of the city walks on Storle street to the depot. The walk will be completed today or tomorrow. Snider's bridge crew left Wednes day and now only two bridge crews are left. In all, over 200 men have been discharged already this month. The ballast Is spread uum Luotlnc to River Junction and as soon as u thaw comes in the spring the track wll be raised to the proper height. The track Is side-surfaced from Lostlne to Joseph, and a good gravel roadbed supports It all the way. Within a few days Mr. Brandon expects to divide the work among five section crews of 15 men each and distribute them along the line. The wrok will be completed at the Wallowa depot within a few days.
