Oldest Conductor on the Kond Goes to -. Pendleton Xoxt Sumlny. Seventeen years ago next Janimry J. C. Gulling operated tho construction train that built the Elgin railroad, and soon after ran the first train into the terminus. Today he made his last trip over the Elgin tracks, for next Sunday he goes to Pendleton to take the conductor's run on the Pilot Hock train, plying between Pendleton and Pilot Rock. The work there Is not as arduous as the La Grande-Josep'h run and more suited for Mr. Gulllng's ad vanced age. He is the oldest conduc tor on the O. R. & N. In this section of the state, and the easiest Job Is due hlm. Mrs. Gulling will accompany him tt Pendleton, where they wl.'l make their home as long as Mr. Gul llng's health will permit him to work.
