It Is a molodrama which do not depend upon red fire or burning powder to give It Interest, and it does not resort to mechanical contrivances, although It is effectively mounted. Besides furnishing a whole some evening's entertainment, the play Inculcates a valuable lesgon, to-wlt: that for girls at least the poet's advice is sound and it Is better to brar the Ilia we have than fly to others we know not of. The plot hinges on the experiences of a young girl who Is In duced to'leave a rather restricted home life by a designing villain and lives to rogret her hasty step. The process by which she learns her lesson Is more tnsfdirsucf rmvsM you . At the Steward Deittuber 2. salutary than pleasant. Pearl Sher wood is a pure-minded girl in a fam ily near New York and , she . responds when the dazzling lights of the great city Invite her to come and participate in Its follies. There la a scene In a wine-room where a good deal of rogu ery Is developed, and where Pearl Sherwood, discovering the true char acter of her associates, throws wine in the face of those who connive against her and flees from the path she Is fol lowing. From that time; until the knavery is overtaken there Is excite ment of various sorts. She Is abduct ed, held prisoner, is the victim of a scheming woman and a man who la thoroughly bad, but In the end she es capes it all. The play is beautifully staged, the cafe and prison scenes be ing particularly effective. fJFWDIIFC I1L If lYULLd EffEdlW La Grande shippers have another nut to crack In solving the uniform bill of lading which went into effect here today.
