The desire to make others happy at : this joyous season should move you not to do your Christmas shopping after the middle of December, and not to shop In theevenlng. Because for thousands of men, wo men and children tho hollduy season . tius come to mean chiefly weariness due to excessive .work, followed often by Illness, and still oftener by an en forced holiday without pay, a bitter Inversion, of tho': order of holiday cheer; . , And because, aside from the em ployees visible In the" stores, there If another army of workers, directly af fected by - the Christmas ' rush the change-makers, bundle-wrappers, the packers, drivers and delivery boys. . The work of the last-named foui : groups continues for many hours af . ter the stores are closed; and the bit ter hardships suffered by the delivery boys In the form of hunegr, .'old, sleeplessness and consequent Illness constitute, year after year, 'a tragedy ; of the Christmas season. Shoppers can prevent all this by buying early In the month of Decem ber, and enrly In tho day. It Is nt the merchants who wish the opening of the stores In the evening, but their cus tomers who buy late In thoimonth. and late In the dny. If you buy your Christmas candy at leant "a week be fore Christmas, you will relieve the girls In the candy factories and stores of some of the fatigue and exhaustion they suffered Inst year on account of. ':SiH Work. ',...!.; ;i.i3;i;; f Let Ua keep what is good In thf Christmas festival. Let us be quit;? sure that for thoxe who serve tn the Stores Christmas may bo a reason of peace on earth, good will to men. . . . . ' There is every reason to believe that when Presldeut-elect Taft takes hi; eat he will enter Upon his duties ab solutely 'free from " alJ political pledges and will rule with a fearlens hand. This Is exactly what the voters thought on election day, or they would not hav Riven him their support. Barkus Is willing, Mr, Bryan says that he Is willing to make another great personal sacrifice In 1912 If tin party only insists. There nre few whi would be warranted In saying that he will not again be the cundidnte. Kmperor William finally got his ear to the ground and took notlee of tin demands of the people. He Is not much of a politician, Judged from th.- American standard, or he would never have been cornered In the way he was. Retrenchment in- city expenses Iv the order of the day. -" . i i i. The following is taken from a let ter written by an osteopath: 'I must tell you about some recent experiences among a number of great artists. 1 have been assisting In a musical festival here an affair of great proportion In which the Sym phony orchestra of Pittsburg (58) men with Emll Paur, director and Madam Gadskl, Madam Llnne (mezzo sopra no), Holmes Cowper (America's great est tenor) and M. Bae'rensfeln of Nu remberg, Germany (bass) partici pated. On the n'hgt of the appearance of Gadskl her voice became hoarse and I was called off the stage to treat her. After the performance" her manager naked me to accompany them to her private car, whore I gave her another treatment. Bnerrteln'also asked me to call at his hotel after I finished my ivork with Gadskl. He Is still In the city nnd tnking regular treatment. But the remarkable thing was the tact, that all Cowper, Baerensteln and Llnne except Gadskl were patrons you might say of osteopathy. I think it Is a mat ter worthy of publicity that these great singers have found in Osteopathy a means for the relief of their throats surpassing that of anything offered by any other system. It simply shows that these great artists 'from sheer force of necessity have selected the one treatment that not only appeals to common sense, but meets the de mands of their professional life," Fuels About Osteopathy.. , Not lea of Impoundment.
