It.- Believing the hills south of Bllverton contain a rich vein of coal, several farmers have organized a company and will sink a drill within a few days with a view to locating the vein. They have leased 1200 acres of land adjacent to the city for 20 years. Prospecting is in prog ress under Chief Engineer Berry, who recently established the Scott's Mills mines. . Honolulu a City. Honolulu, Oct. 21 After the elec tion a week from today, the city of Honolulu will be an Incorporated mu nicipality, with a full-fledged mayor, board of aldermen and all the other accessories and incidentals of machine politics,, graft,, etc., of . any up-to-date Amerfcan city. The charter of Incor poration was granted by the last legis lature, but Its legality was Questioned, and the matter has Just been, decided b ya decision of the supreme court, holding that the act la all' right as far as legal requirements go. Heretofore Honolulu has been governed In con nection with the county of Oahu, which forms the Island of the same name, a board of seven supervisors being, the executive power. As the affairs of the county are most closely identified with the city the expediency or neces sity of a separate administration Is questioned by many citizens. ft! in at" Count ADAMH AVENIIK a uilien Are You Doing What You Can to Populate Your State?
