row night. Music by Heacock's six
piece orchestra. These dances will be
repeated every Friday night that the
Elks do not use the hall.
Mr. and Mrs. Homer Denny have
returned from their visit to points in

Missouri. They have been gone for a
month, and will now locate In this

Andrew Nelson, who was Injured
while working for the Grande Ronde
Lumber company a few days ago, Is
still In a critical condition at the
v Grande Ronde hospital. His condition

Dr. Blggers has purchased the
Johnnie Shea residence on First
; street and will take possession Novem
. ber 1. Mr. and Mrs. Shea leave for
Portland at that time, where they will
make their future home. Their house
hold furniture Is now being packed
preparatory to shipment.
J. D. Carrol of Union, was In the
city this morning en route to Elgin, I
where he will visit his daughter, Mrs.
R. Lloyd. Mr. Carrol was 90 years
old on the 14th, Inst, but notwith
standing Is as spry, as a man of 60.
His remarkable activity at his ad
vanced age, Is the cause of comment
by all who see him.

Raymond McCoy war-arraigned be
fore Justice of the Peace Stewart this
afternoon, on a charge of burglary
from a dwelling, said to have been
committed on First street In the
home of Peter Gettrup. McCoy, with
others, attacked Mrs. Gettrup and It
Is said, she is suffering considerable
from Injuries received by the assault.
The case against McCoy is not so clear
as It might be and though he has been
bound over to the circuit court, there
may yet be a flaw in the proceedings
which will let McCoy out of what Is
really a serious predicament. Proof
is not specific against McCoy. John
Doe, et al, are mentioned in the com-1
plaint. ;j McCoy's bond hat not been 1
met and he will In all probability"

street. In honor of her son, Joe's fifth

Ten Millions In Dividend.
New York, Oct. 22. Ten million
dollars Is to be distributed , to the
stockholders of the Standard OH
company next month, according to re
port today. The directors will meet
next month to fix the quarterly divi
dend. It Is said the regular dividend
of $10 will be ordered.

waiting two years to tear down the
ruins of the city hall, the board of
supervisors ary today facing a suit to
restrain them. Frank J. , Sullivan,
brother-in-law of former Mayor Jas,
D. Phelan, secured a temporary In
junction. He says the new building
cost $6,600,000 and the old one can be
repaired for 14,000,000.
