Smith are enjoying the best of health,

1 At the Pastime.
The Pastime has an entire new
change of program for tonight. The
feature film is The Prince of Wales
landing at Quebec, and shows the
warships of all nations entering the
harbor. The films "The Two Mod
els" and "The Country Lad" are good
comedies, as is also the film "The
Troublesome Carbuncle" and "A Pair
of Kids." '
The bill for tonight Is mostly com
edy, and those enjoying a hearty laugh
should not fail to see it. Performance
begins at 7:15 sharp.' Robert Burton
sings "The Boys In Blue Are Turn
ing Gray" and "In a Cozy Flat."

A new musical organization has
been formed In this city, known as the
Symphony orchestra, and though open
to limited engagements, Its principal
appearance will be as a Saturday night
orchestra for the Fair Store. The first
conceit will be given tomorrow night,
hen, from a rained platform the
four-pli.ee orchestra will dispense mu
sic to the customers of the store. The
Platform Is quite high, and provides
for a bargain booth underneath the
Pistrorm. The orchestration of the
Symphony orchestra Is:

Suicide In Wife's Absence.
Santa Cruz, Cal., Oct. 16. While
his wife was absent, John C. Wood, a
wealthy resident, today committed
suicide with a revolver. He returned
last night from the St. Helena sani
tarium, where he was operated upon
for appendicitis.
Fruit Can Wound Fatal.
Portland, Oct. 16. Mrs. J. S. Sleight
Is aald to be near death today as a
result of sustaining a deep gash In the
bane of the skull from a fruit ran
which she was carrying, when she
slipped and fell down stairs at her
home. Her head struck the sharp
edge of the ran.
