Ore., Oct. 12. (Special correspondence.) In the conference of Pacific coast commercial bodies held in San Francisco the past week, had resulted in nothing more than its action regarding national conventions, the meeting would have been one of the most important, viewed from the standpoint of the development of Ore gon, Washington and' their sister states, ever called. It wtfs unanimous ly agreed by the delegates In attend ance that the coast should act as a unit In working to secure such conven tions, each city endorsing the invita tion of the others, with each of course to have a fair proportion. Through a telegram received from Indianapolis, where the National As sociation of Funeral Directors have Just closed their session," comes the news that this association has chosen Portland for Its 1909 convention, the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific exposition being one of the factors In making this de cision.
