Lund, while cutting rocks out of logs
at the mill, received a severe cut on
the foot which will lay him up for
quite a while. Dr. Moiitor was called
and took him to the hospital at La
Grande, where he la resting easily at
last reports.
Sirs, Lund Injured.
While Mrs. Chris Lund and Mrs.
Robert Cook and Clayton Coalwel were
returning from La Grande Wednesday
evening, their horse became fright
ened between the Oro Dell hrrtr nrt
theold electric light building, running
into the fence and throwing the iadins
out. The horse broke loose and ran
home. The ladles started to walk
home, but were met by Mr. Lawrence
obertson and Gilbert Nelson, who let
the ladies have their rig to go home
with. Mrs. Lund received several
bruises. Mrs. Cook was cut quite se
verely by coming in contact with the
wire fence. While little Clayton re
ceived no injuries at all. The rig and
harness were damaged quite badly.

the competitive table, according to a
decision of the Ramsey-Oldenberg Co.,
which will enter the contest for hon
ors. That Grande Ronde fruit will
take a prize and perhaps one near the
top of the list, is a foregon conclu
slon, and the fruitgrowers cannot af
ford to miss this opportunity of adver
tising their wares. It was stated some
time ago, that several growers of the
Cove district will enter this contest

going to help represent what is rap

ment for a business men's excursion
to Wallowa next week, been received
and kept moving, that at this time it
seems assured that the event will take
place. By securing the promise of m
business men, the train and rates can
be secured. In due time the board of
managers of the Commercial club will
meet and appoint a committee to as
certain Just how many will make the
trip and perfect final arrangements
for the event. The things Is of too
great consequence to be let dropped
without heed. The Observer haa re
ceived many favorable answers aa to
the general popularity of the plan and
it can safely be predicted that the ex
cursion will be run.
Mlsa Nina Hunt-took, who has ac
quired considerable fame for her skill
aa an artist, leaves tonight for Baker
City, from where she again resumes
her Journey to Sale Lake to make her
future home. She has been a resident
of this city for a year or more, and
her rhany friends will regret to see her
leave.
