I A new firm has been formed In this
city and one business place -will be
aarK after tonight The Sherwood
Electric theater, the pioneer playhouse
of the city, will give its last set of Der
formances this evening, when the three
usuar programs will be presented
After the last performance, the "cur
tain" will ring down and B. 'M. Sher
wood leaves the picture film business
for the field of real estate
He has a good program and he will
present it with the care and skill that
has characterized his work during his
stay in La Grande. His many Datrons
are grieved to see him leave the show
business, but, as he states It, condi
tions are now such In La Grande th
v. BWtttgnt and exclusive moving pic
ture business has been overshadowed
by attempts at the vaudeville and spe
cial attractions, until it became neces
sary for him to follow the example of
his competitors. This he feels he
could not do with any degree of profit,
and rather than conduct a business
that was mediocre and not Inclusive
of as many special features as those
given by his competitors, he leaves the
business entirely on the strength of
his firm conviction that the city will
not patronize profitably three vaude
ville and special feature houses. He
leaves the business with regret, and
he has formed many friends In his line
of work during a year's stay In La
Grande, because of his constant at
tempt and success in presenting clean,
attractive and Interesting moving pic
tures. "I leave a good patronaire and
hope that 1 will see my old friends In
my new business," said Mr. 'Sherwood
this morning. "I wish to publicly
express my appreciation of the patron
age given me here and only wish that
conditions were such that I could re
main In the business longer.

be known as the Logan-Sherwood
Realty company. Mr. Sherwood has a
firm belief in the future of La Grande.
