Monday morning be, arraigned before
Circuit Judge Knowlea on the serious
charge contempt of court.,. He' was
arrested last night and gave bonds for
his appearance Monday. This Is a
duplication of the first lnMancewhen
Brlggs was arraigned on the same
charge, but was acquitted later. At
that time an Injunction was granted
Hill, the plaintiff, forbidding Brlggs
from using certain waters for Irriga
tion purposes. The Injunction was Ig
nored, It Is alleged, and the contempt
case followed. A few days ago, a
similar Injunction was issued, and
now, the plaintiff alleges, Brlggs Is
again ignoring the order of the court.
He was arrested In this city last eve

ing the parishes of his eastern Ore'
gon diocese and his coming Is being
awaited with those t)f the Episcopal
faith.
On next 8undny Ebthop Paddock
will be at Hermlston, where he will
hold services In the forenoon. In the
afternoon he will go to Echo for the
purposes of holding an evening serv
ice, which will be held in the Odd
Fellows' hall. Interest Is such that a
good attendance Is predicted.
On September 30 tho blnhop v.lll be
here for the purpose of attending the
first convocation of the rectors of the
diocese.
Rev. I'pton H. Glbbs, rector of St.
Peter's church of La Grande, is plan
ning on attending this convocation.
