12 mile away, was the scene or a sen
sational holdup last night when two
highwaymen entered the Miday hotel,
ahot and killed Charles Thomet who
was behind the bar, and commanded
three other patrons to hold up their
hands. Thomet reached for his ' re
volver and opened fire, wounding one
of the robbers. The latter fired at
Thomet, who staggered through the
door In a dying condition.
Bloodhounds from Spokane are be
ing brought to trail the murderers.
After Thomet fell Into the other
room, the desperadoes entered the
same room through another door and
hot him several times more. They
then escaped In the direction of Ferry,
Wash.
. One of the quartet held up Included
the local banker. No attempt . was
made to touch the till. Thomet was
one of the best marksmen In this part
of the country.
