A bulletin on "Incubation Experiments," to be published soon, will prove one of the most Interesting and valuable publications ever issued form the college. It embodies results Of extensive experiments on methods of Incubation. Prof. James Dryden, head of the poultry department, haa been elected first vice-president of the "Interna tional Association of Poultry Instruct ors and Investigators," at a recent meeting held at Cornell university. It has been demonstrated by Prof. Pernot that freshly, canned fruit heat ed at a low temperature three days in succession will serve the same pur pose as one heating at a high temper ature and at the same time' preserve the color, flavor and shape of the fruit. . ' It Is not generally known that the engineering department of the Agri cultural college has been giving road building a great deal of attention. It is the Intention to add Instructors to this department, go Into road-bulldlng extensively and as soon as ' possible give the people of Oregon Information that will result greatly to the improve ment of the state's highways. Science Hall, a building authorized by the board of rcgenta early this spring, la about completed and will be ready for occupancy at the beginning of the next school term, September 25. This is a handsome three-stoy struc ture of red brick, costing $40,000. The first floor will be given to agron omy, the second to domestlce science, and the third to the commercial de partment. The college catalog Just Issued from the college prlntery, is a 288 pase book containing 46 pages of Illustra tions. The catalog shows the addition of. 24 Instructors, and 10 graduates employer! as student assistants, mk Ing a total of 76 in the faculty for the year 1908-09. There are 16 buildings on the college grounds. The student body numbered 1156 last year, and a ntal of 22 societies, clubs and llterery organizations among the students as sisted materially. The T. M. C..A. building now In course of construction on ground Im mediately adjoining the college, is a three-story structure of exceptionn! beauty and convenience. A swlmmlrff pool therein will be a delight, and nine or 10 rooms for college fraterni ties, and organizations generally, will prove a great convenience.
