Your pportuniff When the bird law opened at mid night, scores of guns were In readi ness to be taken to the haunts of the grouse. That the birds will suffer from this time on until the season closes again Is evident by the number of licenses that have been taken out during the last few days. The county oelrk's office reports 260 licenses Bold thus far this year, but a comparative ly large number of these were Issued during the laHt month and especially during the last few days. Tomorrow the hills will resound with the crack of the rine, judging from the number of local gun men who are planning on going to the hills for the day. IiOW RATES SOOX. ColonUt Rates From the Kant Effect ive on SortemlKr First. Fifteen days more and the colonist rates from the east to Oregon over the Hnrrlman lines will be In effect. It Is snld that all available cars of the sleeper nature are being rushod to the east now, and that the transcontinen tal railroad can handle the - crowd with ease when the rush starts. Im migration is always spasmodic, and as the Influx of settlers Inst spring was not as heavy as the year previous. It Is believed that this year will see an unprecedented rush to Oregon.
