It is stated that a plant would cost In the neighborhood of 130,000. . Figur ing on 1000 subscribers at the usual rates the gross Income would be ir 000 per month, or J2V0OO per year. The operating expenses, ' interest; and repairs would not exceed $12,000 per year, and thus the net Income, it Is claimed, would be about $12,000 per year. Tom Johnson Buys Farm. . Yesterday Tom Johnson once more became a landed proprietor. Not that we mean to say that, he has been with out ' property, but that ho bought a fine farm, tho finest In the valley, Mr Johnson says. , The place was bought from William Doyle, and Is known as the Vivian Kennedy ranch. This year there Is a splendid corp almost ready for harvesting; i00 acres in grain, 70 In hay, and the rest Is pasture, land. The land la sub-Irrigated, and numerous springs bubble to the surface. There are two good dwellings on the place, as well as com modious barns and outhouses. Mr. Johnson has not. yet decided whether he will lease the place or run It him self. "But one thing Is sure," said he. no more politics for mine." Thp price paid is $15,000. Mrs. Knutson Die. ' Mrs. Fred Knutson, who was taken to the Grande Ronde hospital Sunday morning and during the afternoon un derwent a. delicate operation tinder the direction of Dr. Mackenzie, the emi nent Portland surgeon, died this fore noon. The shock of the operation and the heat conrblned were too much for her In the weakened state of her sys tem, brought on . by continued III health. The funeral will likely be held Sundity, and will be under the direction of Henry & Carr. Mr. Knut aon Is waiting tnr the arrival of his son, who Is supposed to be In Clear Lake, Idaho. Gartllnior Open Tonight. The new moving picture show will be opened tonight "as advertised."
