WOMEX AT DENVER CONVENTION There wero two women delegates in the national democratic convention In Denver, Mrs. Mary C. C. Bradford of Colorado and Mrs. Elizabeth Hayward of Ctah. Mrs. Bradford la a descend ant of the VlrKlnla Carrolls. Though she Is described as a domestic woman and when interviewed by a reporter was found dusting the furniture, nevertheless she Is also prominent In Colorado politics. At the state dem ocratic convention she was the first delegate elected to the national con vention, and was enthusiastically ap plauded. She Is a grandmother and an ardent suffragist. Mrs. K. M. Cook of Colorado, was one of the alternates. Among the Utah alternates was Mrs. Sarah Vcntress. Mrs. Harriett R. Hood, one of the alternates from Wy oming, Is spoken of ' as a petite, womanly woman. She was born in Vermont and is a strong champion of woman's rights. Conspicuous among the visitors were the wives and daughters of many of the distinguished delegates from all over the United States and the social functions arranged by the Jane Jef ferson club and other Denver women were many and elegant. AS TO JACK O BHIEX. Surely the La Orande baseball fans are not so foolish as to let the beef ing one, Jack O'Brien, manage the team for them next season If they have enough energy to organize one and then show some backbone and stay in the league. Baker City Her ald. , , Well, brbther, Jack is not quite so bad as he Is painted. And as nearly as we can learn, he had a right to do quite a lot of "beefing." Now, hon estly, what do you really think about It? He gave La Grande, and Inci dentally eastern Oregon, the best team ever in any Inland Empire league. Ertpcntnto Gains Convert. Chautauqua, N.
