A. BIG CIRCUS ; is (Old Advertising car No. 1, of the Bar num & Bailey greatest show on earth, managed by Harry B. Graham, and with a force of 25 billposters, a bone and a pastemaker, is spending the day In the city spreading the news that the show Is soon to exhibit here. . Frank J. O'Donnell, the contracting prexs agent of the circus, whoBe office Is on car No. 1, was a caller during the day, and Judging from his descrlp tion of the show which the Barnum & Bailey management Is this year pre suntlng, there Is no doubt that lovers of the circus form of amusement have a delightful treat in store. In the first place there will be a parade, much more elaborate than those of the past. having been built by foreign artists at the European shops of the show at Stoke-on-Trent, England. And there will be a thriller such as was never dreamed of by the most morbld-mlnded shoot the chuter of past seasons. All this, together with an all-star European company of performers, an enlarged menagerie and an entire new equipment, gives promise of a circus day that cannot well be missed. The advertising of this big circus Is one of Its most wonderful features. Two other advance cars, each with a 'crew of 25, will follow car No. 1 at in tervals of a week apart, and In addi tion there are several brigades of blllcrs who make the rural districts and excursion towns, traveling on the regular trains. In all there are 150 men In advance of the Barnum & Bai ley circus. They post 60 tons of .pa per every week and use as many bar rels of flour In the making of paste. GOOD IMATIIXA CROPS. llurvcxt Hum ( oninictwetl In KnrncM vOvvr Then. Pendleton. July 21. Threshing wan begun In the Helix country today. The reports from all that section Indicate splendid crop In spite of the hut, dry weather that soared a good many of the grain growers. Prominent ware house men predict a yield of 30 to 3.1 bushels. The season Is some days earlier than usual. RAKF.R CITY WATER. Settling Tank System for linker lily Need ( leaning. Baker City, July 21. The recent hard storms In the mountains In the vicinity of Salmon creek, upon which the settling basin of the city water system Is located, have washed Into the hnsln large quantities rlf rock mud and otlier debris, making It nec essary that the ,basln be cleaned at once. A temporary pipe line has been built around the basin so that the rlly la supplied with the usuul amount of water. Nollco to I'mllmrs.
