These are Hlmply a few ' suggestions of what wo might con tinue. The point is, that every dollar we spend with our home Institutions remains hero and make It that much easier for some one else to get a hold of. With Tammany lukewarm, to say the least, and the Hearst papers against him. It does not look at this time that Mr. Bryan will be able to create very much enthusiasm In the fate of New York and with no pos sibility of carrying New York, hi chances of victory are not In propor tion to the chances of his nomination prior to th convention. a i An unsightly obstacle Is to be re moved at the corner of Fir street and Adams avenue, when workmen com plete the construction of cement side walks about the cellar on that corner. For the .past year the street there has been blocked with unsightly and even dangerous framework, but this Is to be removed In short order, as the walks are nearly finished. The order of the city council stipulating that the city must build walks at the expense of the property owners In Instances where new walks have been ordered but not complied with, went Into ef fect today. By reason of this order, there will soon be a goodly number of nw wstkn constructed. One of those to comply with the re quirements of the council without prodding, and by his own volition, Is Julius Roesch, who Is about to com plete the two pieces of walk on Fir street and Adams avenue, and also a long piece In front of the Brewery building. The half block of board walk Is to be torn up and replaced with cement, which will complete the entire block along Jefferson avenue. The street committee of the city coun cil has token steps to advertise for bids to build walks where ordered pre viously, but no,t complied with by the owners. What will probably become one of the most notable heresy trials' that the Presby terian church has known In years will be commenced today by the Ouachita presbytery, with the Rev. F. E. Mml dox, pustor of the First Presbyterian church of Texarkana, as the defend ant. Dr. Mudclox is alleged to have cast doubt upon the Inspiration of the Bible and his views of salvation are declared to be heretical. Presbyter ians throughout the country will wutch. the trial with Interest, as It will cover the name points as have nlready been decided by the northern church but which have not yet been brought to a final issue In the southern branch of the denomination. Dr. Maddox holds that salvation Is nn evolution from within and not an Importation from without, that It Is a deevlopment of a divinely Implanted gift and not a new gift divinely Im planted. He holds that men are saved from sin by grave as the child Is n u P u n P ti u Mew and Second Hand. Our Prices Tell t; the Story Why Satisfied us tomers Throng Our Stores. .
