Pitcher Concannon, one of the best
twlrlers in the Trl-Clty league, has
signed with La Grande, and will reach
here Saturday to Join the ranks of
the Babes for the rest of the season.
By Sunday, La Grande wjl again be
In something like natural shape. Four
nler will in all probability be able to
catch, which will strengthen the in
field again, by allowing Childers to
cover his real position, will fatten the
batting average of the team, and will
spell defeat to the visitors as sure as
fate. .
Concannon Is one of the best pitch
era In the Inland Empire league, aa his
records will show, and any weli
ered fan will attest to.. His trans
portation has been forwarded and he
Is coming Saturday. His first appear
ance will be made on Sunday with the
closing game with Baker. '
EnD OF LEAGUE
SEASQM III SIGHT
When will the baseball season of the
Inland Empire league come to a
closet This Is the question that has
been bothering local fans today on
the strength of a statement coming
from Pendleton that the present serin
between "Walla Walla and Pendleton
will close the season as far aa those
two teams are concerned. In La
Grande It was generally understood
that the race would continue until La
Grande had played one more Irp.
Grunt Lincoln tried to get telephone
communication with President Thomp
son today, but at a late hour had not
been successful. When these two
men discuss the matter it will become
known Just when the league rare is
over.
1a Granite c Winner.
That La Grande will run off with
the pennant without once having b-en
overtaken Is a sure go. Tn the i
mainlng gam with Baker City she
can not lose her hold, and after that
the team will be rejuvenated by re
appearance of regular players and
new men.
