Superintendent . Glllllan returned last evening from Spokane, where he accompanied Rev. Abram Eadea, the veteran minister who went thither to make his home at the Deaconesses' Old Peoples' home. The venerable old gentleman was very much attract ed by the reception they gave him and with the appearance of the surround ings. Mrs. Murphy has had considerable Jifftculty In obtaining permission from Chief of Police Vv'al den to remain In La Grande until after the Fourth, hut through the kindness of a few old-time .friends, who were willing to vouch for Mr. Murphy's good behavior, Mr. Walden withdrew his objection and Mr. Mur phy waj allowed to stay. SEE BALOOf TOMORROW A feature that will attract many to the ball game tomorrow afternoon be tween Pendleton and La Grande, will be a balloon ascension. This is not to occur -during the game, at least it Is not expected that there will be any except In the Pendleton ranks, per haps, but Is to appear after the ball game. Professor Hicks, who does the I aerial act at the Fourth of July eele. bratlon, will make an ascension to morrow from the ball park, Immedi ately after fhe ball game. The only price of admission will be a sub scription following the ascension. Prof. Hicks Is an expert In his lino, and wll give the spectators their money's worth.
